Los Angeles, CA – Avant-garde artist WilfredY will exhibit his work at the Echo Project in Beijing’s Today Museum on October 2016 in cooperation with master calligrapher Wang Qingyun.
With a BF degree in graphic design from San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, Wilfred started out his career landing job at Slover and Co., a boutique brand design agency in Soho, New York. During his time in New York, he designed for world-renown clients such as Crabtree and Evelyn*, Wynn Las Vegas**, NetJEts***, and hue.
In 2005, Wilfred moved to Los Angeles, where he founded L for Lofts LLC., and Little Tokyo Art Complex, an artist community for local Los Angeles-based artists. That was when he began to take his artistic work towards a more conceptual path. Through exploring graphic repetitions, textures, and most importantly, colors, Wilfred translated his drawings and ink sketches into pattern design. The pattern not only were inspired by his experiences and reflections on life, they were expressions of contradictions between chaos and restraints, innocence and absurdity, modernity and traditions, as well as joy and despair.
Wilfred’s drawings, paintings, and sculpture were exhibit in art shows in Culver City, Long Beach and Downtown Los Angeles.
